Brief Profile and experience in the relative field of action:


Border Region Delta Rhodopi (BRDR) was established in 2001, by active local actors (Municipalities, Chamber of Commerce and Prefectural Authority), in order to provide to provide the institutional structure flexible and capable enough to support their undertakings in fields of common interest. It is therefore staffed with a highly competent team of permanent and independent Associates that encompasses

  • A Secretary General
  • An Administrator
  • A Project Manager and
  • Two Administrative Assistants.

Furthermore, this team can call according to the requirements of the Project on the expertise of a pool of scientific collaborators and also rely on the co-operation with the Administrations of its Members.

Over the past few years Delta-Rhodopi has developed an extensive experience through its involvement either as Patner or as External Assistance in various Projects within the framework of Life-Nature (“HABITAT MANAGEMENT AND RAPTOR CONSERVATION IN THE NESTOS DELTA AND GORGE”), an INTERREG IIIC (West Zone RFO project “Change on Borders”), both of which focus on sustainable development, and in two INTERREG IIIB Archimed projects.

Within the RFO project “Change on Borders” (INTERREG IIIC West Zone) the Border Region Delta-Rhodopi is invïlved as Partner in

  • 1. Language Bridges - LABS, which deals with issues concerning multilingualism in border regions as a factor of mutual understanding and cooperation.
  • 2. Multicultural Educational Borders, which deals with issues concerning multiculturism in boarder regions as a factor of mutual inderstanding and cooperation.
  • 4. Euregios and New Neighbourhood- Regional institutional innovations and EU instruments of Cross-border co-operation on post-enlargement external border REGBOUR, which deals with issues relative to the co-ordination of EU instruments of Cross-border co-operation (CBC) and for promoting joint activities and elaborating joint regional cross-border structures and practices

Two INTEREGG IIB Archimed Projects: ArchiCharter, MeSFiDe

  • 1. ArchiCharter (The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in protected areas of Archimed regions integrated with EMAS, Agenda 21 and Ecolabel), which deals with issues concerning agritourism, and alternative types of tourism.
  • 2. MeSFiDe (Mediterranean Small Craft Fishery and Development), which deals with issues concerning the development of coastal small craft fishery.

And the LIFE-NATURE Project entitled: “Habitat management and Raptor Conservation in the Nestos Delta and Gorge”, which aims to resolve some of the most severe threats for priority habitats, especially in riparian forests and endangered wildlife species in two adjacent Natura 2000 sites along the Nestos River.

Furthermore BRDR was involved in a lot of Interreg IIIA projects as subcontractor both in administration and implementation. Most of these projects are related to environment directly or indirectly both with actions of preservation and promotion.

Finally BRDR was involved in a few operational programmes, again as subcontractor.
